Recent Appointments

The University of Saskatchewan will welcome Dr. Ilene Busch-Vishniac as their new President & Vice-Chancellor on July 1, 2012. Dr. Ilene Busch-Vishniac came to this position from McMaster University, where she was Provost and Vice-President, Academic.

Mr. Jeff Melanson began his new appointment as President and CEO of The Banff Centre on January 1, 2012. Mr. Melanson is the former Executive Director & Co-CEO of Canada's National Ballet School.

Dr. Michael Benarroch began his appointment as Dean of the I.H. Asper School of Business, University of Manitoba on November 15, 2011. Prior to this, Dr. Benarroch was a professor of economics and founding dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Winnipeg.

Ms Camilla Holland began her appointment as General Manager of the Manitoba Theatre Centre on September 6, 2011. Ms Holland was previously General Manager at the Tarragon Theatre in Toronto.

Dr. Miriam Grant began her new appointment as Vice Provost, Research and Dean, College of Graduate Studies, UBC Okanagan on September 1, 2011. Dr. Grant was previously Associate Dean (Research), Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Calgary.

Dr. Michael Khan began his new appointment as Dean, Faculty of Human Kinetics, University of Windsor on September 1, 2011. Dr. Khan was previously Professor and Head, School of Sport, Health and Exercise Science, University of Wales, Bangor.

Dr. Neal Davies began his new appointment as Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Manitoba on September 1, 2011. Prior to this, Dr. Davies was Director, Pharmaceutical Sciences Graduate Program, College of Pharmacy, Washington State University – Pullman.

Mr. Larry Alford began his new appointment as Chief Librarian, University of Toronto on August 1, 2011. Prior to this, Mr. Alford was at Temple University, where he was Dean of University Libraries. He has provided leadership on many library committees for SPARC, ALA, ARL and OCLC Board of Trustees.

Ms Leslie Anne Dexter began her new appointment as Head of Junior School at Havergal College on August 1, 2011. Ms Dexter was previously the Vice Principal, Academics at The Sterling Hall School.

Mr. David Thompson began his new appointment as Head of School, Montcrest School on August 1, 2011. Prior to this, Mr. Thompson was Head of School, Lakefield College School.

Dr. Charmaine Dean began her new appointment as Dean of Science of The University of Western Ontario on August 1, 2011. Prior to this, Dr. Dean was Professor and Burnaby Mountain Research Chair, Department of Statistics and Actuarial Sciences, Simon Fraser University.

Dr. Jane Aubin began her appointment as Chief Scientific Officer / Vice President, Research at the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) on July 4, 2011. Dr. Aubin was previously Scientific Director, Institute of Musculoskeletal Health and Arthritis at CIHR.

Dr. Wesley Pue began his new appointment as Provost and Vice-Principal, Academic, UBC Okanagan on July 1, 2011. Dr. Pue was previously Vice-Provost and Associate Vice President, Academic Resources at The University of British Columbia.

Dr. Robert Haché began his new appointment as Vice-President Research and Innovation, York University on July 1, 2011. Dr. Haché was previously the Associate Vice-President Research at the University of Calgary, where he played a key role in advancing strategic research priorities.

Dr. Timothy McTiernan began his new appointment as President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) on July 1, 2011. Dr. McTiernan was previously Assistant Vice-President, Government, Institutional and Community Relations at the University of Toronto.

Professor Sean Ferguson began his new appointment as Dean of the Schulich School of Music at McGill University on May 1, 2011. Prior to this, Professor Ferguson was Associate Professor of Composition; Director, Digital Composition Studios; and Director, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology, McGill University.

Mr. Don Bureaux began his new appointment as President of Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) on April 27, 2011. Mr. Bureaux was previously Vice-President, People and Planning and then Acting President of NSCC.

Professor Donald McLean began his new appointment as Dean, Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto on January 1, 2011. Prior to this, Professor McLean was Dean of the Schulich School of Music at McGill University.

As of January 1, 2011, Dr. Colleen Cook became the new Trenholme Director of Libraries at McGill University. Previously, Dr. Cook was Dean, University Libraries and the Sterling C. Evans Endowed Chair at Texas A&M University.

The University of Alberta welcomed Professor Jane Springett as the new Director, Centre for Health Promotion Studies (CHPS) on January 1, 2011. Professor Springett came to this position from Liverpool John Moores University, where she was Professor of Health Promotion and Public Health in the Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences.
