Professor Donald McLean began his new appointment as Dean, Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto on January 1, 2011. Prior to this, Professor McLean was Dean of Music, Schulich School of Music at McGill University.

As of January 1, 2011, Dr. Colleen Cook became the new Trenholme Director of Libraries at McGill University. Previously, Dr. Cook was Dean, University Libraries and the Sterling C. Evans Endowed Chair at Texas A&M University.

The University of Alberta welcomed Professor Jane Springett as the new Director, Centre for Health Promotion Studies (CHPS) on January 1, 2011. Professor Springett came to this position from Liverpool John Moores University, where she was Professor of Health Promotion and Public Health in the Faculty of Health and Applied Social Sciences.

The new Executive Director and CEO at the Institute for Canadian Citizenship is Ms Gillian Hewitt Smith; she assumed the role in September 2010. Previously, she served as Senior Advisor, Corporate Affairs and Head of Communications for the Group Head, Strategy, Treasury and Corporate Services for the Royal Bank of Canada.

In September 2010, the University of Windsor welcomed Ms Kaye Johnson to the role of Director, Office of Human Rights, Equity, and Accessibility. Previously, Ms Johnson served as the Race Relations, Cross Cultural Understanding, and Human Rights Coordinator at the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board.

The University of Western Ontario has a new Provost & Vice-President (Academic). Dr. Janice Deakin began in this role on August 1, 2010. Previously, Dr. Deakin was Dean, Faculty of Graduate Studies at Queen’s University.

On August 1, 2010, Dr. Mary Courtney stepped into the role of Dean, Faculty of Health and Social Development at UBC Okanagan. Formerly, Dr. Courtney was Director, Centre for Nursing Research, Faculty of Health at Queensland University of Technology.

The University of Manitoba has a new Vice-Provost (Students). Ms Susan Gottheil assumed the role in August 2010. Prior to this appointment, Ms Gottheil was Associate Vice-President, Enrolment Management at Mount Royal University.

Dr. Susan Jean Elliott began her new appointment as Dean, Faculty of Applied Health Sciences at the University of Waterloo July 1, 2010. Prior to this, Dr. Elliott was Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences at McMaster University.

As of July 1, 2010, Dr. Thomas Matthews became the new Head of School at St. George’s School. Previously, Dr. Matthews was Head of College at Hillfield Strathallan College.

Memorial University of Newfoundland welcomed Dr. Gary Kachanoski to the position of President and Vice-Chancellor July 1, 2010. Dr. Kachanoski came to this position from the University of Alberta, where he was a Professor & Bentley Research Chair, Department of Renewable Resources.

The new President at Algoma University is Dr. Richard Myers, who assumed the role on July 1, 2010. Previously, he served as Vice-President, Academic at St. Thomas University.

The new Dean, Faculty of Arts at the University of Alberta is Dr. Lesley Cormack, who assumed the role on July 1, 2010. Previously, Dr. Cormack served as Dean, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at Simon Fraser University.

Osgoode Hall Law School at York University has a new Dean. Dr. Lorne Sossin began in this role on July 1, 2010. Previously, Dr. Sossin was Professor and former Associate Dean, Faculty of Law at the University of Toronto.

On July 1, 2010, Dr. Marc Ayotte stepped into the role of Head of College at Hillfield Strathallan College. Formerly, Mr. Ayotte was Department Head, Mathematics at Trinity College School.

The University of Manitoba has a new Dean of Medicine. Dr. Brian Postl assumed the role on July 1, 2010. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Postl was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority.

Mr. Kevin Goldthorp began his new appointment as Vice-President, External at The University of Western Ontario in April 2010. Prior to this, Mr. Goldthorp was CEO of the Sunnybrook Foundation.

As of January 1, 2010, Dr. Nancy Pollock-Ellwand became the new Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Design at the University of Calgary. Previously, Dr. Pollock-Ellwand served as Head and Chair of School, School of Architecture, Landscape Architecture and Urban Design at The University of Adelaide.
